The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing. At this important historic juncture, China and UN Women co-hosted the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women in Beijing. President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech, charting the course and providing guidance for advancing the global women's cause. Under the theme "One Shared Future: New and Accelerated Process for Women's All-Round Development," the meeting forged broad consensus on unity and cooperation, harnessed collective strength to tackle global challenges, injected fresh momentum into the global women's cause, and set a new milestone in its development.
President Xi Jinping's keynote speech at Global Leaders' Meeting on Women provides direction for advancement of global women's cause
At the initiative of President Xi Jinping, the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women was successfully held in Beijing from October 13 to 14, 2025. More than 800 participants from over 110 countries, regions, and international organizations across five continents gathered to deliberate on pathways for advancing the global women's cause. President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech entitled "Carrying Forward the Spirit of the Beijing World Conference on Women and Promoting the New and Accelerated Process for Women's All-Round Development."
Seven heads of state or government and leaders of international organizations addressed the opening ceremony, while 46 foreign dignitaries, ministerial-level officials, and international friends spoke at the plenary sessions. The meeting also issued a chair's statement and hosted side events, including an exhibition showcasing China's progress in digital and intelligent empowerment for women and girls, yielding fruitful outcomes.
