Since ancient times, Sichuan has been celebrated as the "Land of Abundance," or Tianfu, renowned for its long history, profound culture, dynamic urban development, and rich resources for international communication. In recent years, Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, has fully leveraged its distinctive strengths to tell its stories well to a global audience. Throughout this process, the city has tapped into a wealth of relatable, touching, and approachable content, creating a range of international communication products that are warm, internet-savvy, and down-to-earth — all tailored to resonate with overseas viewers. These efforts have helped audiences abroad better perceive a credible, lovable, and respectable image of China.

Innovative city showcasing economic vitality

Telling a city's stories well serves as both an "amplifier" for its image and a "booster" for its development, playing a crucial role in advancing the city's modernization and internationalization. Chengdu has been continuously refining its development highlights and capitalizing on its industrial advantages, while focusing on new practices and breakthroughs in areas such as digital cultural and creative industries, cultural tourism consumption, green development and technological innovation. Through multiple perspectives, dimensions and channels, the city has been promoting a positive narrative of its economic vitality.

In 2025, the global blockbuster Ne Zha 2 set a new benchmark for the Chinese animation film industry, breaking multiple box office records. Its success is rooted in the persistent development of a cultural IP that stands the test of time and resonates widely, in the convergence of innovative elements to build a robust industrial ecosystem, and in the full stimulation of innovation-driven momentum among market entities. As the incubation hub for the film's core creative team, Chengdu has been a testament to this very development model in practice. By rolling out a series of in-depth initiatives related to the film, the city has drawn focused attention from major international media outlets such as the British Broadcasting Corporation, spotlighting its role as the birthplace of Ne Zha 2 and showcasing the fertile ground it provides for the growth of the digital cultural and creative industry.
