On Aug. 3, a full-element rehearsal for the opening ceremony of the World Games 2025 is held at the Tianfu International Convention Center in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

The 12th edition of the World Games is currently underway in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, from August 7 to 17, 2025. This international sporting event not only provides a stage for athletes from around the globe to compete, but also serves as a powerful showcase of the city's innovation and human warmth. Here in Chengdu, technological dynamism, green development and public enthusiasm converge, offering the world a new event model that blends a futuristic vision with the authentic charm of city life.

Technology redefines smart events

At the Chengdu World Games, the deep integration of technology with culture, commerce, tourism and sports stands out as a major highlight. From security patrols to cultural performances, and from intelligent services to sports training, a series of innovative technological achievements is not only boosting operational efficiency but also presenting a truly futuristic spectacle to audiences worldwide. Among the most notable innovations are the Tangpa robot, the intelligent robot matrix by Yuefan Innovation, and the "YoDome Magic Cube" smart sports equipment.

Tangpa, the world's first bipedal humanoid robot designed for the integration of culture, commerce, tourism and sports, has performed meticulously choreographed, high-difficulty cheer-leading dances alongside human performers at the Chengdu World Games. Equipped with the largest 19-inch screen on any bipedal robot and a head with an industry-leading six degrees of freedom, Tangpa can deliver remarkably human-like gestures. Its head can smoothly lean forward or backward, tilt left or right, and rotate its antennas. These movements, combined with real-time, synchronized facial expressions displayed on its screen, accurately simulate subtle gestures such as a head tilt to show concern, a nod of approval, or a gentle shake to offer comfort.
