On June 9, 2025, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres delivers a video message at the thematic dialogue, titled "Promoting Dialogue Among Civilizations, Strengthening Global Solidarity and Cooperation," held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
New York was graced with warm breezes in June 2025. The glass curtain wall of the United Nations Secretariat Building shone brilliantly under the sunlight on the bank of the East River, like a lighthouse illuminating the direction of peace and hope. At the entrance to the Conference Building, a group of children of different skin colors dressed in Hanfu, or traditional Han Chinese clothing, were having a group photo taken in front of a sculpture symbolizing peace. Their innocent laughter, like the sound of wind chimes, formed a beautiful prelude to early summer. Soon, they would step into the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations and present the sincerest blessing to the audience from across the world with their pure and melodious singing.
On June 9, 2025 local time, to celebrate the first International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations, a series of events themed "Civilizational Exchanges and Mutual Learning," hosted by the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations and organized by the China International Communication Center, was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, U.S. The events included a thematic dialogue titled "Promoting Dialogue Among Civilizations, Strengthening Global Solidarity and Cooperation," a series of exhibitions, and an art performance titled "Beyond Borders: Weaving Cultures Through Artistic Expressions." These events attracted nearly 1,000 attendees, including senior officials from the United Nations, senior diplomats from the permanent missions of various countries to the United Nations, experts and scholars, and people from all walks of life in New York. Together, they appreciated the diversity of world civilizations, discussed the shared values of humanity, deliberated on the inheritance and innovation of civilizations, and explored international cultural exchanges and cooperation.
