Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, China has achieved remarkable progress in ecological conservation and established the green development concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets," making significant strides in pollution control. China has also implemented a national strategy to actively address climate change, constructively engaged in the global multilateral process on climate change, and vigorously advanced South-South cooperation in this area. These efforts have positioned China as an important participant, contributor, and leader in global ecological conservation, making significant contributions to building a clean and beautiful world.

China's endeavors in ecological construction focus on respecting, adapting, and protecting nature to achieve modernization where humans and nature coexist harmoniously. Currently, many global south countries are grappling with major challenges, including economic development, livelihood improvement, pollution control and ecological preservation. How to effectively coordinate the contradiction between development and protection has become a key issue that these countries urgently need to solve. Given their similar stages of development, many developing countries are looking to China, the largest developing country, for potential solutions.

At the 29th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change held in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, in November 2024, several ministers of environment from global south countries, whom I interviewed, expressed their strong desire to draw on China's modernization experience.
