Beijing, a millennia-old city with a rich history and profound cultural heritage, is today a vibrant, ever-evolving modern metropolis. Rooted in this ancient yet modern capital, the Beijing Radio & Television Station (BRTV) strives to uncover Beijing's unique charm as a historical ancient capital and a national cultural center while highlighting the city's openness and vitality as an international exchange hub, telling the wonderful Beijing stories to the world through high-quality audiovisual productions.
On July 27, 2024, the Beijing Central Axis was successfully inscribed on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage List, becoming China's 59th World Heritage Site. During the application process, the BRTV meticulously produced an international documentary series Beijing Central Axis. The documentary, featuring over 20 individuals from diverse fields worldwide who live along or study the Beijing Central Axis, narrates the axis' formation and development, explores the civilization process spanning millennia, and illustrates the shared destiny of humanity. It was released in English and Spanish versions in June and December 2023, respectively, and broadcast overseas via China Global Television Network and Spanish and Serbian media. The documentary was also showcased at the Paris Expo, receiving comprehensive coverage from the Spanish newspaper EI Debate, Europa Press, and other media, achieving over 8.11 million global reads and views.
