On October 19, the 2024 Erhai Forum on Global Ecological Civilization Construction, co-sponsored by the China Public Relations Association (CPRA), China International Communications Group (CICG), and People's Government of Yunnan Province, was successfully held in Dali, Yunnan.
Gu Shengzu, chief expert of the Global Development Think Tank, and vice chairman of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was invited to attend the forum and deliver a special speech. The event brought together over 280 guests from home and abroad, including government officials, diplomatic envoys from more than 20 countries, officials of international organizations, as well as representatives of university think tanks, Chinese and foreign enterprises, and industry associations.
According to Guo Weimin, president of the CPRA, China has achieved historic milestones in ecological environment construction and made major advances in building a beautiful China under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization. The Third Plenary Session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee outlined comprehensive plans for deepening the reform of the ecological civilization system and advancing modernization characterized by the harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature. To further promote the communication on ecological conservation, Guo made four suggestions:
First, we should make communication in this regard more targeted and effective. Efforts should focus on strengthening communication both domestically and internationally. By fostering a good public opinion environment through international communication, we can promote international cooperation to address challenges in the endeavors in ecological conservation and share experience in ecological civilization construction.
Second, we should leverage the strengths of all parties in communication. The government should coordinate efforts to mobilize social forces, ensuring that enterprises, think tanks, media, colleges, universities, and social organizations each utilize their unique strengths. Public participation in ecological conservation should be seamlessly integrated with international communication efforts.
