Lyuliang City

Lyuliang is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of north China's Shanxi Province. It is adjacent to Taiyuan City, the capital of Shanxi Province, and Jinzhong City to the east, faces Shaanxi Province across the Yellow River to the west, and borders Linfen City and Xinzhou City to the south and north, respectively.

With a total area of 21,000 square kilometers, Lyuliang basically belongs to a temperate continental monsoon climate with four distinct seasons. With a resident population of 3.37 million in 2022, Lyuliang exercises jurisdiction over one urban district, 10 counties, and two county-level cities.

Lyuliang, an old revolutionary base area, used to be the main battlefield of the Red Army's Eastern Expedition (February–May 1936), the capital of the Shanxi-Suiyuan Border Region during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931–1945), and the headquarters of the Rear Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China set up in 1947.

In 2023, Lyuliang's gross domestic product added up to 236.61 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 4.3% at constant prices.

On June 21, 2017, President Xi Jinping paid a visit to Shanxi, and his first stop was Lyuliang.
