In September 2019, during President Xi Jinping's inspection of Henan Province in central China, he remarked that "the Jiao Yulu spirit, the Red Flag Canal spirit, and the Dabie Mountains spirit are all valuable cultural wealth of the Communist Party of China (CPC)." This underscores the crucial position of the Dabie Mountains spirit in the revolutionary legacy of the CPC.

• Jiao Yulu (1922–1964) was the secretary of the CPC Lankao County Committee in Henan Province. He worked tirelessly and selflessly for the people of the county until his death in 1964.

• The Red Flag Canal is hailed as the "Eighth Wonder of the World." It is actually a water conservancy project manually cut into the cliffs by people of the Linxian County (now Linzhou City) in Henan Province in the 1960s. Its total length is 1,500 km, and nearly 100,000 people participated in the construction in nearly 10 years.

• From the birth of the CPC in 1921 to the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1949, the Chinese Communists and people carried out armed struggle against the Kuomintang (KMT) reactionaries in the border areas of Hubei, Henan and Anhui Provinces with the Dabie Mountains.
