On December 6, 2023, the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee and the Hangzhou Asian Para Games Organizing Committee held a press conference to present the initiatives and primary outcomes of carbon neutrality of Hangzhou Asian Games.

Emissions of greenhouse gases

The emissions of greenhouse gases during the Games totaled 882,900 tonnes, reduced through green electricity by 22,000 tonnes. The carbon offset index by social donations reached 1.1 million tonnes, thus realizing carbon neutrality for the first time in the history of the Asian Games and Asian Para Games.
