Since undertaking its first project abroad, the Zinder water supply project in Nigel, in 2003, the China Railway 20th Bureau Group (CR20G) has completed nearly 100 projects in 17 countries along the Belt and Road.

'Golden Signboard' of overseas expansion

"We have undertaken the construction of the Nacala Corridor Railway project in Mozambique. Due to our excellent performance in construction, we secured 15 contracts, including track maintenance, station renovations, housing construction and railway signal tower fence protection," said Guo Wei, CR20G's country head for Mozambique operations. The company had been rooted in Mozambique for over three years before they opened the door to the market in neighboring Malawi with the Nsanje–Marka Road project, a regional route connecting Malawi with the Port of Beira in Mozambique and beyond, in early 2019. Since then, CR20G has successfully secured over 10 projects in Malawi, including the Bangula–Marka Railway, the Kaphatenga–Benga Road and the Bingu National Stadium.

Conducting regular inspections and random spot checks, staying on-site at key project construction locations, and conducting internal reviews of sub-projects, Wang Jianfu, director of engineering department of CR20G's Angola International Company, is tirelessly involved in quality management for seven concurrent projects dispersed across Angola's various provinces, including highways, airports and urban water systems. To ensure effective management, CR20G has adopted cluster management for these projects. The overseas company established specialized quality management positions to guarantee comprehensive supervision at every stage of construction.
