The permanent venue of the China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is to host the 20th China-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) EXPO (CAEXPO) from September 16 to19. Over the past 20 years, the CAEXPO has been held on a yearly basis in Nanning.
Fruitful results of CAEXPO in 20 years
At the seventh China-ASEAN (10+1) Summit held in Bali, Indonesia, in 2003, China proposed organizing the CAEXPO annually in Nanjing, Guangxi. This was widely welcomed by leaders of ASEAN countries and included in the presidential statement issued after the meeting. In 2004, the first CAEXPO was successfully held in Nanning.
Over the past 20 years, the CAEXPO has been co-hosted by the economic and trade authorities of the governments of China and 10 ASEAN countries and the ASEAN Secretariat, and organized by the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It has become a significant platform for China-ASEAN communication and cooperation.
The CAEXPO sets up a bridge of friendly cooperation in many fields and develops the unique "Channel of Nanning" for China-ASEAN cooperation. It turns out to be a regional public product and an international cooperation platform that serves the China-ASEAN partnership, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), achieving the goal of "10+1>11."
In the previous 19 CAEXPOs, 182 Chinese and foreign leaders, over 3,800 ministerial-level dignitaries and heads of international organizations, and more than 1.1 million businessmen from home and abroad had attended. Over 200 economic and trade activities had been organized, attracting some 40,000 Chinese and foreign business delegates.
