Teacher Numbers Continue to Grow

As of the end of 2022, the number of full-time teachers in China had reached 18.8 million, an increase of 2.54 million from 2017. This increase lays a strong foundation for the high-quality development of education.

Number of school teachers increases

Currently, 225 normal schools and 565 non-normal schools are designated to jointly cultivate teachers.

The number of full-time teachers in kindergartens, primary schools,secondary schools, schools for special education, and specialized schools had grown from 13.76 million in 2017 to 16.11 million in 2022, an increase of 2.35 million.

Since 2017, through a national training program for primary and secondary school teachers, more than 9.34 million rural schoolmasters and teachers in central and western China have been provided training.

Vocational education teacher training is optimized

The number of full-time teachers at undergraduate-level vocational colleges, higher vocational schools and junior colleges grew from 1.32 million in 2017 to 1.37 million in 2022, an increase of 44,000.

From 2017 to 2022, the central government allocated 4.1 billion yuan to the project of "national vocational education training."

Teachers in higher education schools are strengthened

Full-time teachers at regular and adult higher education institutions increased from 1.19 million in 2017 to 1.33 million in 2022, an increase of 146,000.
