Construction of Science and Technology Backyard in the rural area is a new subject loved by university postgraduates and researchers majoring in agriculture. It aims to improve the scientific quality of rural households.

In 2009, Professor Zhang Fusuo led a team of teachers and graduate students from the China Agricultural University (CAU) to Quzhou County, Hebei Province. There, they imparted agricultural technology to farmers. This proves to be a boon for the farmers to engage in high-yield and efficient production.

"Thank you very much for bringing science and technology to our household backyard," many farmers said to Professor Zhang. One of the farmers said, "Why don't you call it 'Science and Technology Backyard'?"
