In the first quarter, the total value of Chinese merchandise imports and exports amounted to about 9.89 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.8% compared with the same period last year. The total export value reached 5.65 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.4%. The total import volume was 4.24 trillion yuan, an increase of 0.2% over the same period of last year.

Growth of foreign trade enterprises

In the first quarter, there were about 457,000 foreign trade enterprises that conducted import and export trade transactions in China, an increase of 5.9% year on year.
