The Jiangsu Province Hospital.
Editor's Note: During his inspection of the Shaxian General Hospital in Fujian Province in March 2021, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the necessity of further deepening reforms in the medical and healthcare systems in order to distribute high-quality medical resources in a more balanced way, and improve health infrastructure at the grassroots level so as to provide a reliable guarantee for people's good health. In April 2022, the general office of the State Council launched an initiative to promote the development of a system focused on medical science and technology innovation and acceleration of all innovation efforts in the health science and technology fields. Medical institutions across the country plunge into action immediately, with the Jiangsu Province Hospital being one of them.
For ordinary people, the most important concern is usually the national medical system, so the national medical reform initiative has attracted widespread attention. On the basis of summarizing the experience and effectiveness of the Action Plan for Improving Medical Services (2015–2017), comprehensive reforms will be carried out in China in 2023 in the medical science sector. The new policy will include the targeted transfer payments of full-budget medical insurance, the further promotion of enhancements to insurance types such as major illness insurance and clinical trial insurance, and ensuring that people enjoy comprehensive medical insurance services. Efforts will be encouraged to further enhance the level of medical services in China, putting in place well-thought-out, effective and safe guarantees for the physical health of the people.
