Following the 2023 Chinese Spring Festival, joy was everywhere in the Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual School in Budapest, Hungary.

On January 24 local time, Yang Chao, interim charge d'affaires at the Chinese Embassy in Hungary, handed a reply letter from Chinese President Xi Jinping to the teachers and students of the Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual School. In the letter, President Xi encouraged Hungarian youths to learn more about China and become envoys of the China-Hungary friendship. His sincere hopes deeply touched the teachers and students.

"Is it true?" 19-year-old Hungarian girls Varga Bonita and Imre Tamara Lili held the letter with excitement. They had never expected that the president of a country with a population of more than 1.4 billion would take time out of his busy schedule to reply to several Hungarian high school students.

Varga and Imre both have Chinese names: Hu Lingyue and Song Zhixiao. On the eve of the Chinese Spring Festival this year, they were awarded the "Chinese Ambassador Scholarship" for a second time. Therefore, they decided to write a letter to President Xi Jinping to express their gratitude. In the letter, following the Chinese custom, they conveyed their New Year's greetings to Grandpa Xi and Grandma Peng, and described how they felt about their 12 years study of the Chinese language. They also expressed their hope of attending a university in China and contributing to the Hungary-China friendship.
