On March 9, China's National Healthcare Security Administration (NHSA) introduced China's operation of medical insurance funds, expenditure on COVID-19 prevention and control, and supervision of medical insurance funds in 2022.

Insured persons 

By the end of 2022, 1,345.7 million people had basic medical insurance, stabilizing the coverage at over 95%.

Basic medical insurance fund 

In 2022, the total income and expenditure of the basic medical insurance fund (maternity insurance included) were 3.07 trillion yuan and 2.44 trillion yuan, respectively.
