On Jan. 17, 2023, the Chinese Mission to the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa jointly hold the "Happy Chinese New Year" event and the "China's Extraordinary Decade in the New Era" photo exhibition in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

In March 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited three African countries, including Tanzania, South Africa and the Republic of the Congo, as part of his first overseas visit after assuming the presidency and put forward the principles of China's Africa policy — sincerity, real results, amity and good faith, and pursuing the greater good and shared interests.

Under the joint guidance and efforts of Chinese and African leaders, China-Africa relations have posted spectacular historic achievements over the past 10 years, ushering in a new era for building a high-level community with a shared future between China and Africa.

In February this year, President Xi sent a message to the 36th African Union (AU) Summit, extending his warm congratulations on the achievements of African countries and people and wishing them even greater success in future development and revitalization. "Over the past year, the AU has united and led African countries to actively respond to global challenges and speed up the development of the African Continental Free Trade Area, and played an important role in mediating hotspot issues in Africa, which has boosted Africa's international status and influence," he said.
