Chinese President Xi Jinping has repeatedly stressed the importance of reading books so as to enhance the Chinese people's mental development and build a society of reading. On the eve of World Book and Copyright Day on April 23, we invited some prolific writers to share their stories of reading and writing, as well as their thoughts on the development of a national reading culture and the international promotion of Chinese culture. They include Qiu Huadong, Mai Jia, Tan Kai, Li Chaoquan, Xu Zechen and Ye Duoduo.
