Rescue force searching for survivors

A 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria on February 6, 2023, causing huge losses to the people of the two countries. The disaster shocked the whole world. Official and civilian rescue forces from China instantly rushed to the stricken areas with disaster relief. More than 20 teams went to the most severely affected provinces in Turkey. Many overseas Chinese in Turkey spontaneously assisted the Chinese rescue teams and made donations to the homeless victims. Many of them had never experienced earthquakes, yet they devoted themselves to the rescue work without hesitation, leaving a lot of moving stories.

Crack team from Beijing

Among the civilian rescue teams from China, the five-member Beijing Emergency Rescue Association team spearheaded the move, setting off as early as February 8.

They brought only a few daily necessities to spare room for important equipment such as life detectors. Without funds or sponsorship, they paid for the international flights, one night's accommodation in Istanbul, food and equipment out of their own pockets.
