Wutongqiao District is a pivotal base in the crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) industry under Leshan City, Sichuan Province. Since 2021, green industrial projects led by crystalline silicon photovoltaics, new technology and new energy enterprises have settled here. Now, things are in full swing inside the industrial park.

As the flagship project in Leshan City, what unique features does "China's Green Silicon Valley" hold? How can the PV industry remove obstacles and gather momentum? Since the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Leshan City has been vigorously developing its new energy industry. It relies on scientific research and development to innovate and pool together the whole industrial chain in the project, making great strides in the PV industry.

Thus far, the city has an annual production capacity of 173,000 tonnes of high-purity crystalline silicon, 50 GW (1 GW equal to 1 million kilowatts) monocrystal pulling ingot and 17 GW silicon wafers, with its production capacity of high-purity crystalline silicon ranking among the top in the world.

Green Silicon Valley magnetic to enterprises

Leshan has a pivotal role to play in China's PV industry. Relevant statistics show that seven global photovoltaic head enterprises have settled or own stakes in Leshan. An industrial cluster has formed, significantly improving the industrial energy level.

In the Wutongqiao Industrial Base, the core area of "China's Green Silicon Valley," enterprises speed up silicon materials production.

"It took us only 100 days to deliver the first phase, from signing the contract to getting the full operation, and then another 100 days for the second phase!" Said Chen Kangping, CEO of the Jinko Solar Co., Ltd. The grand canvas of the PV industry is unfolding as projects are rolled out. Following the 100-day record set by Jinko Speed, the Leshan JYT Corporation shortened the time to 84 days and upgraded the "Leshan Speed" of crystalline silicon photovoltaic. All this vividly mirrors the healthy competition in Leshan's crystalline silicon PV industry.
