At 8 p.m., May 10, Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, put on a special light show on the twin towers in the Tianfu International Financial Center to honor the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Slovenia in the colors of Chinese and Slovenian national flags.

That night, in the European city of Ljubljana, the landmark Tromostovje was also lit up to commemorate the three-decade diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Located in the southern foothills of the Alps, Ljubljana is the capital city of Slovenia and the center of culture, transportation, science and education of the country. Chengdu, situated in the Sichuan Basin, is one of China's important economic, technological, financial, and cultural and creative centers. It is also a hub of international exchanges and comprehensive transportation. Both cities boast gorgeous sceneries of snow-capped mountains in the distance.

Chengdu and Ljubljana celebrated the 40th anniversary, or ruby anniversary, of sister-city relations in October 2021. "Honorary Citizen of Chengdu" and "Chengdu Street," among others, have witnessed how the friendly relations between the two cities have developed over the past four decades.
