He Xiaohu, an 'Aerospace Craftsman' and 'Turner' of Rocket's Heart

At the celebration of the 2022 May 1st International Labor Day and the National May 1st Labor Award and the National Worker Pioneer Commendation Conference held on April 28, He Xiaohu, a senior technician of Xi'an Space Engine Company Limited, No.6 Research Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (hereinafter referred to as CASC), was awarded the National May 1st Labor Medal.

At 10:44 a.m. on June 5, China launched the crewed spaceship "Shenzhou-14." The liquid-propellant rocket engine is usually referred to as the "heart" of the rocket carrying the spacecraft; while its combustion system-related products which are even more important, taken as the "heart of the heart," were produced by He Xiaohu and his co-workers.

In 2009, He Xiaohu graduated from the Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation Department of Shaanxi Polytechnic Institute. Given his unmatchable outstanding skills in practical operation among the batch of graduates of more than 300 people, he successfully joined the Xi'an Space Engine Company Limited of CASC No. 6 Research Institute.

When he was on duty for the first day, He Xiaohu seemed a little frustrated looking at a machine tool manufactured in the 1960s in the workshop, and asked Dong Xiaowen, his master worker, "Could we produce the core components of a rocket engine with such an ordinary machine tool?" "As a member of the aerospace industry, you have to calm down and sharpen skills." Dong's answer made him completely calm down. Since then, it has become a norm for He Xiaohu to "enter the workshop the first and return to the dormitory the last" on weekdays.
