On May 30, the National Health Commission (NHC) of the PRC held the "For the People's Health — China in the Past Decade" press conference to introduce the progress and achievements in maternity and child health care since the 18th National Congress of the CPC in 2012.

In 2021, the maternal mortality rate in China decreased to 16.1/100,000, the infant mortality rate decreased to 5.0‰, and the mortality rate of children under 5 years old decreased to 7.1‰. The core indicators of maternal and child health had dropped to the lowest level in history.

Up to now, there are 3,032 maternity and child care institutions in China, with up to 542,000 professionals and 260,000 beds.
