The number of new cases involving telecom and cyber fraud in China has seen year-on-year declines for nine consecutive months since June 2021, thanks to China's intensif ied crackdown on such crimes, the Ministry of Public Security announced at a press conference on April 14.

Over the past year, China has addressed 394,000 cases involving fraudulent activities through telecommunications and the Internet, and some 634,000 suspects involved in such illegal activities have been arrested. The numbers are up 28.5% and 76.6% respectively from last year, both hitting record highs.

China's public security organs worked with other authorities to establish a mechanism to stop victims from making payments to the suspects' accounts and freeze funds related to the fraudulent activities. The mechanism helped to prevent 61.78 million people from falling victim to such fraud and saved 329.1 billion yuan from crime.

China will carry out six missions in 2022 to complete the in-orbit construction of its space station, an official from the China Manned Space Agency said on April 17.

The year 2022 will mark the 30th anniversary of the initiation and implementation of China's manned space program. According to the mission arrangements, a total of six missions are planned for this year: in May, the Tianzhou-4 cargo spacecraft will be launched; in June, the Shenzhou-14 manned spacecraft carrying three astronauts will be launched and the crew will stay in orbit for six months; in July, the Wentian lab module will be launched, followed in October by the Mengtian lab module. The three modules of the space station will form a T-shaped space station. Then the Tianzhou-5 cargo spacecraft and the Shenzhou-15 manned spacecraft will be launched. The crew of Shenzhou-15 will be composed of three astronauts. They will take over from their Shenzhou-14 predecessors, living and working in orbit for six months.

The construction of China's space station includes two phases: the key technology verification phase and construction phase, with six missions planned for each phase. China has successfully finished the key technology phase with the completion of the maiden flight of the Long March-5B carrier rocket, the launch of the space station's Tianhe core module, the Shenzhou-12 and Shenzhou-13 manned spacecrafts, and the Tianzhou-2 and Tianzhou-3 cargo spacecrafts.
